Form And Letter - New Policy

In the past, as a courtesy, we've filled out all requested forms as well as written letters on your behalf.

Recently, more of you are requiring us to fill out forms and write letters. This recent influx has disrupted our ability to provide the consistent level of service that we strive for. Providers and their staff are spending many hours fulfilling these requests; which take time away from patient care.

As a result, we felt the need to put in place a policy to address this issue. Starting this new year (2013), we will be charging for forms that were NOT requested during your child's office visit.

We will continue to fill out school, sports and camp forms, asthma medication school forms and others during your child's office visit free of charge if the request is made at the time of your child’s visit.

However, if a request to complete a form occurs after your child’s visit, a charge will apply.

There will also be a charge if you require a provider or a staff member to draw up a specific letter.

Unfortunately, a fee will be applied regardless if the request is made during or after the appointment due to the time it requires to prepare such a letter.

As always, we want to thank you for entrusting to us the care of your child. We view our relationship as a partnership to help your child reach his or her full healthcare potential.

Preventing Asthma Attacks During the Spring

It doesn't feel like spring yet, but we know it is coming. During the Months of April and May, as the season changes, asthma symptoms return. 

The best form of medicine is preventive medicine.

That is why here at Salud Pediatircs, we'd like to help you prevent your child from having asthma attacks. 

Uncontrolled asthma leads to all kind of different discomfort in your child. For example, sleep difficulties lead to fatigue, adverse effects in school performance, decreased sports participation and performance, and increased incidence of respiratory infections, just to name a few.  

Schedule an asthma check-up today if your child has asthma, uses Albuterol, or has wheezed in the past 6 months. You and your doctor can develop an asthma action plan for home and school to better control your child's asthma flares. 

Unable To Get An Appointment With Your Provider Of Choice?

We've heard from some of our long-time patients that they are having a hard time getting appointments with their provider of choice. 

We encourage parents to schedule appointments before they leave our office in order to have a better chance of securing the provider and time of your choosing. 

We don't charge for no-shows and we DO give parents a call the day prior of their appointment as a courtesy reminder. Thus, we recommend to make an appointment before you leave and change it later, than to call at a later time and have to deal with limited availability. 

It gets tricky for same day appointments, we know. Although we try to always accomodate time, date and provider request, it is difficult to grant them. Each provider only has a limited amount of daily slots. They also have days off which complicate matters. 

We do, however, work very hard at arranging the schedule so that at least one provider is available for same day appointments. So even though you may not be able to see your primary provider for same day appointments, you will be able to see someone that day.

Hour Change For Dr. Betancourt

We wanted to inform you that Dr. Betancourt's hours have changed. She will only be seeing patients from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

She will have a limited amount of appointment slots at 8:15 am for those parents that wish to be seen before work or school. 

The 8:15am appointment slot is outside of the normal schedule. If you are interested in this time slot, you'll need to call several days prior to your appointment and schedule it in advance. 

Dr. Graba and our Nurse Practitioner Marciann will continue to work our standard office hours. Saturday appointments will also remain the way they've alway been ( 9-to 1pm). Providers alternate Saturday appointments.
